Originally from Florida, DJ Carr graduated from The University of Florida in 2011 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
In 2007, he began experimenting with different butane extraction methods and moved to Colorado in 2011 to begin his career in the cannabis industry. DJ ran large medical grows in the medical and caregiver sector for the first few years until closed loop hydrocarbon machines were certified and legal. In 2015, he was hired as the first employee and Extraction Manager of Apothecary Extracts, where he designed and implemented one of the first C1D1 build outs in Colorado. Additionally, he became one of the first extractors nationwide to develop SOPs for single solvent diamond production.
Soon after, he earned the role of General Manager at The Crown Cannabis where I spearheaded retail, cultivation, and extraction. In my first 6 months we doubled sales and tripled the size of the grow with full automation. I moved to Maine in 2018 with an opportunity to start a vertically integrated company with a group of investors. I am the founder of Coast 2 Coast Extracts, which operated in the medical and recreational adult-use market. In just two years, they became the largest volume extraction company in Maine and possibly the East Coast. His extraction techniques are hyper-focused on terpene preservation.
In 2020, Coast 2 Coast Extracts built and licensed an adult-use store front as well as planned a 25,000 sq. ft. grow. In 2021, the company was sold to Rugged Roots, who continues to be a successful operator.
